Event Description
Drexel Green’s annual Earth Day Block Party will be held on Tuesday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. along Lancaster Walk behind the Drexel Recreation Center on the University City Campus. Simultaneous Earth Day events will also take place on the Queen Lane and Center City Campuses.
Some highlights:
- Raffle to win a free hosta plant
- Recycling collections: batteries, cell phones and shoes
- Donation drive: The Alumni Association will collect children's books, school and art supplies and playground and recreation supplies (baseballs, bats and mits, kick balls, basketballs, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, tennis balls and rackets, Wiffle balls and bats, and more) to benefit local children and the Lee Cultural Center, located just behind the Vidas Athletic Complex
- Giveaway: Drexel Green collapsible water bottle
- Free refreshments and samples from local merchants
- Green vendors, such as Zipcar, Enterprise CarShare, Bennet Compost, the Mark Group and Republic, Drexel's recycling vendor
- University Facilities tree planting
Vendors and organizations from within the University and the local community will set up tables with educational materials, giveaways, refreshments, trivia and activities celebrating the natural environment and sustainable practices.
